VirtuaTilt Wiki › Bluetooth Pairing Problems: Cabinet Not Showing Up or Dropping
Four separate symptoms with a short list of causes between them. Work down the one that matches.
Confirm a profile has actually been loaded: open GUIConfigTool to check, or re-load it. Note that an off LED is normal — it means no button was held at boot, so the default profile is running. It does not mean a profile is missing.
A previous profile is still loaded, or you forgot to plug in over USB and click Program Pico. Re-load the correct profile; the pairing name comes from the profile, not the hardware.
Forget the pairing on the host, toggle Bluetooth off and on, and pair again — the host's HID descriptor cache may be stale from a previous session. On Windows you can also restart the Bluetooth services from an Administrator PowerShell:
Stop-Service bthserv -Force
Stop-Service BTAGService -Force
Start-Service bthserv
Start-Service BTAGService
Almost always a stale pairing on the Quest side. Forget the VirtuaTilt pairing on the Quest, toggle Bluetooth off and back on, and pair fresh. Confirm your firmware is current while you are there: GUIConfigTool → Overview, and compare the Build IDs against HASHES.txt in your redist folder.
If a stubborn pairing will not clear, reset the Quest's Bluetooth stack — we suggest the third-party Quest Games Optimizer (QGO) tool for this.
For a guaranteed-stable connection you can also sidestep Bluetooth altogether and switch to USB (wired) mode: load the matching USB profile and connect the cabinet to the Quest through a USB-A → USB-C OTG adapter.
