Pairing Your VirtuaTilt with a Meta Quest

After loading one of the four Quest-targeted profiles (FXVR_XAM, FXVR, StarWarsPinballVR, or PinballVRClassics), follow these steps on your Quest headset:

Step 1 — Forget any previous VirtuaTilt pairing

If you have ever paired a VirtuaTilt or X-Arcade with Meta Quest before, forget it first. The Bluetooth identity changes between profiles, and a stale pairing will confuse the headset.

Step 2 — Pair fresh

Names you should see depending on the loaded profile

Tap the matching name to pair. The pairing usually completes in 1–2 seconds without a PIN.

Step 3 — Verify

NOTE: You only need to pair each profile once on your Quest. The Quest will remember the pairing across power-cycles and reconnect automatically. However, if you switch the cabinet to a different profile, the Bluetooth identity changes — you must repeat the forget + re-pair flow above.

If controller is still not recognized or Meta Quest Bluetooth stack looks broken, you can reset it through Quest Game Optimizer (QGO) settings:

QGO → Android Settings → (App Info) Open → System → Reset Options → Reset Bluetooth & Wi-Fi → Reset (It also resets WiFi settings)

⚠ VERY IMPORTANT — this is a Meta Quest behavior, not a VirtuaTilt fault.

After you load a different VirtuaTilt profile, the Meta Quest may keep showing the previous profile's device name in its Bluetooth list. The Quest caches paired-device information (including the advertised name) and won't refresh it until that cache is cleared — meanwhile your VirtuaTilt is already advertising the new profile correctly.

To clear it, use either method:

Method 1 — Forget + reboot (built-in, no extra tools):

Method 2 — Reset the Bluetooth stack with QGO (faster, no full reboot):

If you have Quest Games Optimizer (QGO) installed, use its reset Bluetooth stack option in the QGO settings. This clears the cached Bluetooth state without rebooting the whole headset; on the next pairing the new profile name appears.
