VirtuaTilt Wiki › Troubleshooting Tips
The cabinet missing from a Bluetooth scan, pairing under the wrong name, pairing but with no buttons or no plunger, or dropping mid-game: the causes are short and the cure is usually a stale pairing on the host. Bluetooth pairing problems — full instructions, including the Windows Bluetooth service restart and what to do when a Quest pairing will not clear.
Almost always the game is still listening to the Meta Quest hand controllers rather than the cabinet, and you have to hand control over at the game's main menu. The gesture differs by title: the A button for Star Wars Pinball VR and Pinball VR Classics, the X-Arcade Mode alignment for Pinball FX VR. Buttons not recognized when a Quest game starts — full instructions, including what to do when XAM activation will not take and why it has to be repeated on every table.
The cabinet responds but the flippers do not: the flipper buttons have to be remapped from LT/RT to LB/RB inside the game, every time you launch it. It is a bug in the game, not in the cabinet. Star Wars Pinball VR flippers not responding — full instructions, including how to tell this apart from the game not listening to the cabinet at all.
Solenoids fire on USB but not on Bluetooth: the profile must include enableSourceDuringSuspend: true on the solenoid output entries. All shipped BT profiles already have this. If you edit a profile manually, do not remove this flag.
Phantom button storms or accelerometer jitter at idle: increase nudgeDeadband in the profile (try 2500 if you are seeing storms below that). Save and re-load.
If you receive a "Device not recognized" error message popup in Pinscape Pico GUIConfigTool when you plug in your USB cable, just reboot the PC and the error will be gone.
Still stuck? Let it read your setup.
VirtuaTilt for Claude is a free extension that reads your configuration — your profiles, your DOF, your DOFLinx — and names the file and the line that is wrong, instead of listing what is usually wrong. It is the fastest way to tell a controller fault from a PC fault, which is the question most of this chapter exists to answer. Needs Windows and Claude Desktop, and a VirtuaTilt you already own.
